The Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) has announced a change to the delivery of their Intern Written Exam. As of 2025, remote online proctored exams via OnVUE will no longer be available, except in exceptional circumstances.

Chief Executive Officer Bronwyn Clark says remote proctored exams were a necessary adaptation during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure the continued pipeline of the pharmacy workforce.

"Since the pandemic, there has been a significant shift back towards test centres as the preferred sitting option. Test centres have now resumed full operations, and in line with other organisations delivering high stakes exams, we can only offer OnVUE in exceptional circumstances.

"This decision aligns with our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of exam integrity and security," Ms Clark stated.

Test centre delivery can offer a more stable technical environment, reducing the risk of connection issues that could impact the exam experience. This aims to ensure every candidate is assessed under consistent, controlled conditions, which is critical for the fairness and reliability of the exam process.

"We commit to providing support to our candidates where this does not compromise the exam process and can be reasonably accommodated by APC. This change is designed with the best interests of our candidates in mind, ensuring that the exam process remains robust, secure, and fair for everyone involved," Ms Clark concluded.

The APC is committed to supporting candidates through this transition.
