We're looking for 3 Directors to sit on our Board.

Available Positions

Our Board has 3 Directors completing their current terms in May 2021. Our Board is a skills-based Board. We have 2 vacancies for non-pharmacist community members and 1 for a pharmacy academic.

The Board usually meets 4 times a year in Canberra or by Zoom. We provide Directors with modest remuneration, economy air travel, accommodation (where necessary) and out of pocket expenses for meeting attendance. Directors are expected to also take on Committees and Working groups as needed.

  • an application form outlining strengths that you can bring to the Board
  • a short curriculum vitae
  • a statement addressing the relevant selection criteria below

Please declare any potential conflicts of interest (including positions on boards of national organisations and how you may manage these conflicts), and the names of two referees who can attest to your ability to be a Director.

All applicants must abide by the expectations of a Company Director, as defined by the Corporations Act 2001, and be residents of Australia. Short-listed applicants may be invited for an interview with the Board Selection Committee as part of the process before recommendation to the Board.

Applicants who have membership of the Australian Institute of Company Directors may be prioritised. We also strongly encourage persons who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply.

Selection Criteria

General Governance skills

Demonstrated company governance experience, strong financial literacy and understanding of risk management

Demonstrated integrity and understanding of the duty of care of a director

Personal Attributes

Defined reasons to become a director of the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) and ability to advocate for the future direction of APC both domestically and internationally

Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to be an active contributor

Specific Skills and attributes

Demonstrated leadership as a respected pharmacy academic and educator (one position)

Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of accounting knowledge including qualifications in this area (one position)

Ability to represent a broad perspective of consumer and patient need (two positions)

An understanding of the health sector and the role of the pharmacist (all positions)
