30 April 2020 - Intern Written Exams to be re-scheduled
We will be re-scheduling the upcoming Intern Written Exams set for June and July due to COVID-19 impacting on our exam provider, Pearson VUE.
Pearson VUE, has unfortunately closed all of its professional centres across Australia due to the unprecedented pandemic that has imposed physical distancing requirements for the health and safety of the community.
We wish to assure students and candidates, that we are already moving very quickly to schedule the intern written exam for October so that is also aligns with the Board oral exam.
We will also make arrangements for the exam to be delivered online so that we can ensure everyone is appropriately physically distant and safe, because your health and professional development is our priority. Please read our full statement for further details.

24 April 2020 - Council of Pharmacy Schools Guiding Principles for pharmacy student clinical education during a Global Health Emergency
The COVID-19 global pandemic has necessitated rapid changes in both the health education and practice arenas. This has amplified the need to collaborate across the profession of pharmacy and along with other health professions to ensure that pharmacy graduates demonstrate the skills required to provide safe, high quality, and socially accountable access to, and use of, medicines and other health technologies.
The Council of Pharmacy Schools: Australia and New Zealand, has published some principles regarding pharmacy student clinical education to support the COVID-19 pandemic workforce as part of and in parallel to pharmacy student academic studies. Read CPS Guiding Principles to find out more.

20 April 2020 - National Principles for clinical education during COVID-19 agreed
The Health Professions Accreditation Collaborative (HPAC) Forum, AHPRA, National Boards and the Australian Government have set national principles to guide professions, Accreditation Authorities, education providers and health services when making decisions about student clinical education.
APC has been an active part developing these principles through our CEO Bronwyn Clark, who chairs the HPAC Forum. 25 May 2018 - Updates to our Eligibility Assessment Terms and Conditions
Please note after processing your application, the Assessments Team may send you an email stating “Further Information Required” to decide on your application. You will have 90 days from the date of that email to submit the required documentation described in the email. If you do not submit all the required information or documentation within the stated time, you will be taken to have withdrawn your application, and your application will lapse. Please note if your application lapses, you will need to reapply and commence the application process and pay the relevant fee again. The documents that you submit with your lapsed application will be deleted.

10 October 2017 – APC Invites Submissions for Draft Intern Year Blueprint
The APC invites submissions on the Draft Intern Year Blueprint and we welcome your feedback on this assessment blueprint until 17 November 2017.
The development of the Blueprint was commissioned by the APC to inform the Pharmacy Board of Australia regarding best practice in assessment of competency of intern pharmacists for general registration. The Blueprint is based on the 2016 Competency Standards.
An extensive literature review for international evidence about contemporary assessment methods has been completed and accompanies the draft Blueprint. This publication is available here.
Your comments and feedback will contribute to the finalisation of the Blueprint for presentation to the Pharmacy Board of Australia at the end of the year.

26 September 2017 - Change in Eligibility Expiry for Assessment Candidates
Important information for Assessment Candidates. We advise the 3 year expiry on eligibility assessments no longer applies. This decision allows candidates to sit the KAPS/CAOP exam beyond the previously imposed 3 year limitation.

03 August 2017 - NRAS Accreditation Systems Review
We would like to thank all those who took the time to make submissions to this important piece of work. Professor Woods has indicated that a draft report will be made available for comment in September, before he makes his final recommendations to Ministers on the future of health professions accreditation.
09 March 2017 - Australian Pharmacy Council appoints President and Vice President
In February 2017 the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) Council finalised their biennial election process for the positions of President and Vice President.
The Council is pleased to advise Professor Debra Rowett has been re-elected as President and Mrs Sue Kirsa as Vice President.
Professor Nick Shaw did not seek re-election as Vice President, and remains Chair of the APC Accreditation Committee.
28 October 2016 - Intern Written Exam eligibility criteria to change from 1 January 2018
From 1 January 2018, interns wishing to sit the Intern Written Exam will need to have completed 40 per cent of their required approved supervised practice hours by the date of the exam.
The current eligibility requirement is completion of 30 per cent of approved supervised practice hours will remain in place until 31 December 2017.
This decision was made by the Pharmacy Board of Australia in conjunction with the APC. The decision was based on our research and analysis regarding the optimum time for candidates to sit the written exam and is based on data collected by us over a period of five years.
The change in eligibility criteria will ensure interns have sufficient time and experience in their supervised practice to adequately demonstrate their competence.

15 December 2015 - Changes to Skills Assessment applications
From Friday 1 February 2016 we will no longer be accepting paper-based applications for Skills Assessment. Candidates wishing to apply for a Skills Assessment must do so using our online system.
The first step in submitting an online application is to complete an online eligibility check.
Our online application process is simple and easy to use. Once you have gone through the online eligibility check and created a login you will be able to use the Candidate Portal to upload your documents and pay us directly without possible delays in postal or courier delivery.
Paper-based Skills Assessment applications date stamped by postal services after 31 January 2016 will be returned to Candidates unprocessed.
