The Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) says the Advancing Practice program’s latest milestone for the pharmacy profession is a testament to the solid work APC put into the Credentialing of Advanced Practice Pharmacists’ Pilot Program, which underpins the Advancing Practice program.
APC CEO Bronwyn Clark said Advancing Practice’s achievement to complete the evaluations of the first round of pharmacists credentialed against the Advanced Pharmacy Practice Framework contributes significantly to the quality of the pharmacy profession.
"We are delighted to see that the significant work we did in the pilot program for advanced practice credentialing has been continued by Advancing Practice," APC Chief Executive Bronwyn Clark said.
“We passed on the materials APC developed in the pilot to our member organisations to allow them to leverage off our achievements and maintain the rigour of the process developed by APC.
“We also congratulate all the pharmacists who have received their recognition from this first round and look forward to seeing them continue to contribute to improving outcomes for our patients,” Ms Clark said.
In 2015 APC completed the Credentialing of Advanced Practice Pharmacists’ Pilot Program, in which 43 pharmacists were awarded credentials against the Advanced Pharmacy Practice Framework.
This significant pilot program took two years to complete and has served as the basis for the pharmacy profession in Australia to continue recognition of advancing practice pharmacists.
