This document is in response to the Accreditation Systems Review within the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (NRAS). The review began in 2016. 

As part of the consultation, we submitted a response to the Accreditation Systems Review Discussion Paper in 2017.

The purpose of this response was to provide recommendations around issues within health accreditation systems. Discussion points covered:

  • improving efficiency
  • relevance and responsive
  • producing the future health workforce

This document outlines:

  • the history of Australian Pharmacy Council (APC)
  • how we work with other organisations and health professions
  • our role in the NRAS for health professions
  • why the NRAS is in place and how it affects public safety
  • health professional education quality assurance and workforce development
  • global health workforce education
  • our responses to the Discussion Paper

It discusses how we collaborate with them, and why global objectives are so important. Their guidelines ensure we create a workforce responsive to local needs but connected globally.
