  • Adapting to new accreditation processes after COVID 19

19 January 2021

Accreditation authorities use a mix of tools and processes to assess education programs and providers.

The Health Professions Accreditation Collaborative Forum (the Forum) has published a statement highlighting how accreditation authorities, including APC, have adapted tools and processes as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic.

During the pandemic many accreditation authorities used virtual site visits. The Forum's statement lists the deciding factors around which elements of a site visit should be face-to-face or virtual.

The statement can assure education providers of the considerations that accreditation authorities are using in developing appropriate activities. It provides details on:

  • the tools accreditation authorities use to assess education programs and providers
  • determinants for using virtual site visits
  • updates on the strengths and challenges around virtual site visits
