The Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) congratulates the National Australian Pharmacy Students' Association and the many sector leaders and advocates whose longstanding efforts have contributed to the expansion of paid placements for health students.
Chief Executive Officer Bronwyn Clark said the announcement was a welcome recognition of the challenges faced by students undertaking mandatory clinical training.
"Placements for Work Integrated Learning are a key part of ensuring our new graduates are work-ready to meet community needs," expressed Ms Clark.
“This support recognises the critical role students play as they develop the skills and experience needed for Australia’s future health workforce.
"Paid placements will ease financial pressures and help students meet their placement requirements, while creating greater opportunities to undertake placements across a broader range of settings, including rural and regional communities.
"Congratulations to Sebastian Harper and incoming NAPSA president Mia Avram, whose dedication and collaboration helped achieve this important outcome for students," Ms Clark concluded.
