The Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) welcomes announcement from NSW Premier, Chris Minns, stating that two NSW universities are aiming to offer full-scope training for community pharmacists from 2026.

Chief Executive Officer, Bronwyn Clark welcomed this announcement.

'We welcome and fully support the initiative to embed Pharmacist Prescriber programs across universities, enabling accessible, people-centred care,' stated Ms Clark.

'APC plays a critical role in ensuring these new programs are rigorously quality-assured and aligned with national standards, so that graduates are equipped with the skills to practise safely, effectively, and to the top of their scope'

'Currently, APC has accredited three Pharmacist Prescriber programs, and several more are progressing through the assessment process. We are working closely with these institutions as they prepare and submit their applications for accreditation. Once accredited, these programs will be ready to welcome enrolments, expanding opportunities for pharmacists and strengthening the capability of the health workforce,' concluded Ms Clark.
