Contribute to our consultation on the Accreditation Standards for Pharmacist Prescriber Education Programs review.

Background

The Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) is completing a review of the Accreditation Standards for Pharmacist Prescribers Education Programs.

The revised standards will reflect contemporary practice and healthcare delivery and relevant emerging practice and technologies. The standards will be designed to be sustainable and adaptable and will be regularly reviewed as healthcare is evolving rapidly.

The revised standards will replace the 2023 accreditation standards for Pharmacist Prescriber Education Programs.

Project Governance

The APC has established a Governance Group to guide the review of the accreditation standards.

A project Governance Group has been established to oversee the revision of the standard and will ensure that the process exhibits transparency, consistency, responsiveness, equity, inclusiveness, accountability and effectiveness.

Consultation approach

The consultation approach aligns with Ahpra's Principles to strengthen the involvement of consumers in accreditation and Ahpra's Consultation process of National Boards 2023 and as follows:

APC has provided opportunity for stakeholders, the public and the profession to provide input into the revision of the Standards. Feedback was sought via an online survey.

Preliminary Consultation

October 2025 - May 2026

Preliminary consultation with key stakeholders with experience and expertise in a broad range of areas related to the work being delivered under this project occurred from October 2025 to May 2026.

June - August 2026

We invited health professionals, consumers, and interested parties to provide written feedback via an online form from 22 June to 3 August 2026.

We will publish an interim consultation feedback report shortly.
