The Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) is pleased to announce the dates and location for the public consultation rounds to support the development of the Pharmacist Capability Framework, which is being undertaken on behalf of the Pharmacy Board of Australia (the Board).
The Framework, announced by the Board in late 2024, will describe the capabilities of a newly registered pharmacist who is adaptable to future practice change. It will be used by APC for accreditation purposes, and by the Pharmacy Board for its regulatory functions including registering pharmacists.
To support a wide and inclusive consultation process, APC is undertaking a range of formats for consultation including face to face forums, a virtual forum and online written feedback. Public consultation papers, including a draft Pharmacist Capability Framework, will be published ahead of the consultation rounds.
APC is holding 3 in-person consultation rounds as follows:
APC will facilitate an EOI process for these events which will be open for registration from Monday 25 August to Friday 26 September. To ensure a wide range of groups and individuals are able to contribute via the forums, APC will review all expressions of interest and will issue invitations in early October 2025.
APC is also supporting written feedback via an online form which is provided for interested parties unable to join us at one of our forums. The online submission will open from Monday November 3 until Monday 15 December.
The consultation approach and timelines are now available on the APC website and will be regularly updated as the project progresses.
